Associate
Certified Coach (ACC) Credential
The two main requirements for the ACC are as follows:
- 60 hours of coach-specific training
- 100 hours of client-coaching experience
- 10 hours of work with a qualified mentor coach (effective
7/1/08) **
Documentation of the training hours is required. There
are other requirements as well, which may be found in
the ACC application on the ICF web site (www.coachfederation.org).
There are two ways of applying for the ACC credential:
- Through the portfolio approach
- As a graduate of an ACTP program.
Applying through the portfolio approach requires
completion of the application located on the ICF web
site and submission of that application along with documentation
directly to the ICF. The documentation consists of any
certificate or letter documenting your successful completion
of a class. In addition, there is an oral examination
that is handled through the ICF.
Applying for the ACC as a graduate of an ACTP
program means that you have completed all requirements
for that particular program. For example, to determine

**Mentoring Requirement for ACC Portfolio
Applicants - Effective
July 1, 2008:
The ICF Board of Directors has taken action to add
an additional requirement for those seeking the ACC
credential. In recognition of the value of working with a qualified
mentor coach and to align the initial requirements for the
ACC with those of the PCC and MCC, the Board has adopted the
following new requirement for those applying for the ACC via
the Portfolio process: Effective July
1, 2008, those applying
for the ACC credential, by submitting a portfolio application,
will be required to document 10 hours of work with a qualified
mentor coach.
