Prerequisite: minimum of 30 hours of coach training
Sessions:
10 (1st and 10th classes are 60 minutes;
classes 2 through 9 are 90 minutes)

Prerequisites:
a. Minimum of 100 hours of coaching
experience
b. Successfully attained a CLC and/or ACC
c. Currently working with at least 3 paying clients
This Practicum is for those coaches
who are committed to their professional development
and who want to become more masterful and offer their
clients exceptional coaching. It can also be used as
a step in preparing for the PCC oral exam.
Objectives:
a. to hone coaching skills
b. to increase coaching mastery
c. to more skillfully develop own coaching style
d. to embody the coaching approach (non-directive, whole
person, client as expert)
e. to fully understand the coach’s responsibility
of being the expert of the coaching process
f. to become aware of own areas for growth
g. To self-manage
h. To appreciate a variety of coaching approaches
Class Structure:
Theme-based as a central organizing
principle, e.g. boundaries in coaching: brief didactic
on the theme; case presentations from participants’ caseloads;
discussion; role-playing; exploring the coaching process.
Some themes include:
a. Boundaries
b. Developing and using intuition
c. Coach’s self-management
d. Creating awareness for the client
e. Languaging: non-judgmental, charge neutral, advocacy
vs. cheerleading, acknowledging vs. complimenting, support
vs. approval.
f. Embodying the belief of client as whole, competent, capable,
creative, resourceful
g. Enlisting and believing in the client’s brilliance
h. When and how to make referrals
Participant Requirements:
a. Be actively engaged in weekly
triad or quad buddy coaching
b. Write a short paragraph before (what are your thoughts
about the upcoming topic?) and after each class (what was
your learning about the topic?)
c. Prepare a brief case presentation for your chosen topic.
d. Actively participate in the class.
Facilitator(s) will:
a. Present didactic teaching on
the topic
b. Facilitate the role-plays and discussions
c. Observe and offer insights about the coaching
