Coach: Lessons from the Institute for Life Coach Training, Norton
Press, 2007. Course Overview:
To be a life coach means to help clients create satisfying
and fulfilling lives. Participants in ILCT'™s Coaching
From The Inside Out program are required to have completed
ILCT' Employee Assistance & Workplace Coaching Specialist
Program™ (EACS). In the 20-hour foundational EACS
program, participants have learned the required skills
and strategies to help clients/employees discover what
authentic and happy lives are, set and achieve goals,
remove obstacles, and create visions and plans.
The twenty classes in "Coaching
From the Inside Out" form a unique set of tools and
methods that enable coaches to coach their clients or
employees to design their lives for both professional
and personal fulfillment. This includes, of course, the
client's ability to design their ways of being and working
successfully and in accordance with what is most important
to them. The tools & skills are presented in a sequence
that coaches may choose to use with their clients. They
may also be used in other sequences, to match the specific
goals and needs of clients. Some of the classes present
skills and techniques that are also applicable and beneficial
when working with small groups and work teams.
Participants will be using their own
lives and work as a practice field for the Inside-Out
work. They will also work with a peer coaching partner
as part of their fieldwork; utilizing the coaching support
of their peer-coach, they will probe deeply into their
own lives as a model for working with clients/employees.
Participants will explore: what is important to them,
what values they hold deeply, what needs they have that
have become obstacles to personal and professional fulfillment,
and how to utilize life-work balance concepts to focus
effectively on work and other life components.
The course instructor draws on and presents
research and resources in Positive Psychology to reinforce
how coaches can apply the methods taught to assist clients
and employees in creating long-lasting and meaningful
change within their work and personal lives. |
