Tomorrow's Life Coach is a professional
monthly online journal of the Institute for Life Coach
Training that nourishes the intellect, intuition and
inspiration of the personal/business coaching community.
TLC continues to gain in popularity among diverse
coaches and is highly recommended by Peer
Resources:
"One of the best free newsletters,
Tomorrow's Life Coach consists of well-researched,
informative articles on a variety of key topics
for coaches. While a publication of the Institute
for Life Coach Training, many of the articles are

Ponderings
My ponderings this month are more of an update of
our coach training and the state of the "union" at
ILCT. We continue to attract high quality professionals
to our coach training program and are getting more and
more interest for our ADVANCED CLASSES from coaches
who have trained with other schools. Our advanced classes
are of a wide variety and are designed to teach higher
level coaching skills, niche development opportunities,
and to improve competence and mastery in some of the
skills one may have previously learned. Please tell
other coaches you know about this opportunity for advanced
learning.
On another note, we are seeing an
increasing number of our own students complete their
full diploma to claim the title of ILCT "Graduate",
and requirements for our Accredited Coach Training Program.
Many of them are applying for the ACC (Associate Certified
Coach) or the PCC (Professional Certified Coach) credential
with the International Coach Federation. We will see
those numbers increase even more as our students complete
our full program in increasing numbers. This all bodes
well, of course, for the profession because the more
serious professional coaches are about attaining this
level of certification, the better the reputation of
the whole profession!!
Congratulations to all of you who take your advanced
learning seriously and to those of you who are on the
path to certification.
Shoot for the Stars,
Pat

"Raising
the bar," "Creating barriers to entry," "Elevating
the coaching profession." Such phrases around the
coaching community emphasize the intense focus on coaching
certification.
ILCT is "Making Credentialing
Easier" for its students and alumni, and even prospective
students. (See details and resources in separate article.)
Our graduates benefit from our status as an ICF Accredited
Coach Training Program and find the path to ICF credentialing
easier.
The International Coach Federation
has improved its forms for its three levels of coaching
credentialing. Multiple teleclasses are available from
the parent organization to help coaches get started.
Dramatic changes upcoming in membership levels allow
only ICF credentialed coaches to have voting rights—reflecting
the organization’s emphasis on its credentialing.
Many of you are currently making decisions
related to training, professional affiliation and certification.
Occasionally I am asked for my opinion of such, or of
the future of coaching. While I firmly do not claim
to be an expert, I do believe that considering different
perspectives and options can lead to a higher level
of understanding and decisions that are better overall.
So, I would like to refer you to several
sources, so you can examine for yourself. For a broader
look at the coaching industry and the issues relating
to certification, Rey Carr of Peer Resources has articles
at http://www.peer.ca/credentials05.html (2004)
and http://www.peer.ca/ICFmemberchange2.doc (2005).
For a look at a coaching certification based on proficiencies
and not on number of hours coached, visit http://www.certifiedcoach.org.
Of course, examine ILCT’s web
site for its resources and offerings for entry-level
and advanced coaches. And join us in the pursuit and
achievement of excellence in coaching!
Be your best,
Annette

Total Life Coaching is more than
just a book. It is an interactive experience in which
you will find recipes for living your life more authentically,
as well as master time-honored lessons that you can
bring to your coaching clients [or can incorporate in
your own life]. Regardless of the personal coaching
techniques or skills you may have learned, you may still
not be the most effective coach you can become. This
book will help you move closer to that goal.
Therapist

by Dr. Patrick Williams MCC, Deborah C. Davis
At last, a book for mental health
professionals considering a transition into the new
and dynamic field of life coaching! Therapist as Life
Coach explores life coaching as a profession, examines
the relationship between life coaching and therapy,
and details the variety of options for professionals
considering either a transition into coaching or expanding
their practices to include coaching.
Making
Certification Easier
ILCT recently presented a call and
tool to make the processes for coach certification easier
to understand. The information provided from these sources
explain both the ILCT "Certified Life Coach" credential
and the International Coach Federation’s Professional
Certified Coach credential, and are based on ILCT’s
coach training program.
A group call was presented on certification
earlier this month. A recording was made which can be
accessed at your convenience by dialing 405-244-4000
and entering box 584 when prompted. This call is hosted
by Pat Williams, CEO, and Edwina Adams, Director of
Operations. The "Certification Game," developed
by Edwina, can be downloaded from http://www.lifecoachtraining.com/The_Certification_Game.pdf.
Additional information for "I want to be a certified
coach" is at http://www.lifecoachtraining.com/about/certification.shtml.
The process is made easier at ILCT
by their simple steps and strict attention to ICF requirements.
If you are considering ILCT for your coach training,
join the free Introductory Class offered twice a month.
The next call is on March 1. Register at http://www.lifecoachtraining.com/courses/free_intro/index.shtml.
For current students or alumni who
have not reached the level of being a "graduate" of
ILCT, it would be to your advantage to do so. This would
increase your credibility and also, make the ICF credentialing
process easier.
Come to ILCT and become a great coach…aspire
to inspire!
Affirmation
for a Client
When I am "stuck" in
my life, I will engage in a creative activity
of my choice such as art, music, writing or
movement. It will relax my hard working left
sided brain and open some new beautiful connections
in my life. I will grow, explore and expand
my horizons and engage all my senses in this
life called Wonderful.

Christian
Track Starts Two New Classes in March
The Christian Track of the Coaching Foundations Course
is designed to facilitate/assist Christians with a people-helping
background to move from a professional, pastoral or
lay counseling practice into coaching in the shortest
amount of time possible.
Two class are beginning on March
27 (meeting on Mondays and Wednesdays at either 2:00
pm or 6:00 pm EST.) The course is held for 40 hours
over six months, and is accredited by the International
Coach Federation.
The Christian Track has been developed
in response to requests we have received from several
people desiring a model of coaching training that integrates
principles of Judeo-Christian theology, ministry of
the Holy Spirit, and is solidly grounded in Scripture.
The course includes all material
covered in the regular foundational program, including
texts and the student manual. The class is taught by
members of the Christian Coaches Network and is designed
for those counselors or therapists who identify themselves
as Christian counselors or for whom Christian beliefs
are a major part of their approach.
The Christian track is facilitated
by Christopher McCluskey, PCC, founder of Coaching
for Christian Living and Judy Santos, MCC, founder
of the Christian
Coaches Network.

Business
Coaches Needed for New Orleans Business Owners
There is a need for experienced business coaches/consultants
who want to volunteer to work with businesses in New
Orleans that have been impacted by Hurricane Katrina.
This is an active project with a developing client list.
All positions are PRO BONO.
The Coaching Business Owners Project
of Coaching Makes a Difference is underway with an on-site
visit to New Orleans. We have met with several organizations
and business owners and have learned much about the
issues and needs of business owners impacted by Hurricane
Katrina. As you might imagine, reduced or shifting client
bases, lack of available employees and concerns about
the levees (potential for future flooding) are big issues
at this time. Excluding the levees, strategies are needed
for addressing these and other immediate business issues.
