Carrie Hudson, DMin, MDiv, BCC, CCSP

Filed under:

Teacher, mentor and board-certified Christian life coach, Dr. Carrie D. Hudson is a proud native of Cleveland, Ohio. She and her husband now consider Cornelius, North Carolina their forever home. Armed with a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Counseling & Care, Dr. Hudson has developed empowerment courses, workshops, and seminars designed to support individuals looking for a better way to live. A lifelong learner, Carrie received her Doctor of Ministry degree in Black Church Studies where she discovered the nurturing needs of African-American women within a faith context. She received both of her graduate degrees from Ashland Theological Seminary where she served in Academic Support Services, as an academic advisor, adjunct professor and finally, as an Associate Dean.

Her newly founded life-coaching venture, Sistah Soul Care, LLC, is aimed at helping the tired and frustrated find rest though spiritually formative practices and accountable partnership. Dr. Carrie is clear that change is a part of life and helping others embrace it while navigating that transition well is one of her greatest passions. In 2020, Dr. Hudson published her first book entitled, The Love that Set Me Free: 7 Real-Life Stories on how to Love You Right, Love God Most and Love Others Healthy! In this book, she shares how she faced seven (7) major life transitions and how she navigated successfully through them.

Outside of her life-coaching practice, Carrie is looking to connect and serve within organizations that can help clients identify strengths, challenge unproductive mindsets and follow through on actionable steps to live their very best life. For over 20 years, Carrie has volunteered in faith-based institutions serving in various areas such as Director of Christian Education, Bible study teacher and trainer, workshop facilitator, certified personality assessment (MBTI) practitioner, spiritual advisor, and minister. Carrie is looking for an ideal opportunity to serve and utilize the gifts she has developed and honed over time.

For a more detailed review of Carrie’s qualifications and past experience, check out her LinkedIn profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/cdiannhudson/ and/or her website: www.drcsoulcare.com.

Reverend Dr. Carrie D. Hudson is the loving wife of Reverend Kevin L. Hudson. Proudly blended, they have two adult sons, one adult daughter and a fur Yorkie baby, Remy.

Self-Directed Tips

Filed under:

  1. If you have registered for a course, you will receive an email with login information within 2 business days. Be sure to check your spam folder for important notices. Many e-learning platform and student management system emails are filtered to spam.
  2. Be sure you know that you have compatible technology for the course. Sometimes different operating systems and mobile devices may not have the latest mp3 audio software or may display the text differently.
  3. When you login to an e-learning platform, type your username and password. Some platforms do not recognize “copy and paste” functions.
  4. Be sure to read the instructions. Become familiar with the course navigation. Note who your instructor is and how you can contact your instructor. This may be via email or within the course.
  5. Realize that you will be required to write a paragraph or two at the end of each lesson. Writing and typing is easier for some people on a traditional desktop/laptop and keyboard.
  6. Understand that your coach instructor may not respond at length or at all beyond a simple acknowledgement to each lesson. Remember, the learning happens as you engage in the exercise of writing.
  7. If you find the course is not meeting your expectations, or if you have questions about the content, let your coach instructor know sooner rather than later. This can often be addressed within the course module. Waiting until the course is completed to voice concerns means you end up missing out!
  8. Remember that technology equals glitches. Be patient with yourself and the technology. Expect the occasional dead link. If you are writing your answer into a form field, consider constructing your answer in word or notepad just in case the SAVE function fails or you click away accidently.
  9. Finally, expect that a self-directed learning experience requires commitment and buy-in from you. Create a sense of anticipation about what will come forth from you as you experience the teaching and engage in the writing.

The breadth of courses, the experience of the instructors, and the community that is fostered with the students, faculty, and alumni help you grow beyond the end of your program. Only one problem...So many incredible courses to choose from, hard to decide what to take!"

I’m a recent graduate of ILCT’s 30 hour coach training program.

Filed under:

I'm a recent graduate of ILCT. I've been moved to offer this testimonial about Ellen Ritter because she has truly been a great friend and helper to me. Life coaching is my second career which I have chosen at a mature point in my life. Ellen has always been there for me as a cheerleader telling me I could do it--and this when I really wasn't sure I could. While at ILCT, Ellen was - and still is, as I have later gone about being a coach- a great aide and advisor still giving me ideas about coaching techniques. With all the candor and honesty I can muster, Ellen is truly thoughtful, warm and caring. She is ILCT's Dean of Students, but still finds time to rescue individual students from floundering - as I should know. ~ Melvin S., JD, MSW

Filed under:

"I've done my Foundational Course and Coaching Skills Practicum with an absolutely inspiring, wise and life changing teacher Lynn Meinke. Lynn taught us that in order to truly and professionally take care of your clients, you should ensure superb care of yourself. These two classes contributed significantly into making this happen for me: I've discovered my life purpose and personal values, built confidence in my skills and ability to master coaching relationship with a client and found my way of contribution to making world better by revealing life coaching power. In these classes I was rewarded by significant personal inspiration and published two books in half a year and my third one is on it's way! I just wish I'd found ILCT and life coaching earlier in my life." – Ausra B.

I recently fulfilled the ILCT coursework for the BCC certification, passed the BCC exam several weeks ago, and am now launching my coaching practice as a BCC. I greatly appreciate the on-going training and support you offer your graduates through these monthly teleconferences." – Irene E., M.S., B.C.C.

I cannot say enough positive things about my experience as a student at ILCT!

Filed under:

“I cannot say enough positive things about my experience as a student at ILCT! Every step of the way I received support from the faculty, students and staff. Not only did I receive a high quality education in coaching, but I was able to develop my coaching skills with application and structured peer groups. I was mentored and guided when choosing new classes that fit my goals and mission. After completion of the program, I continue to receive support from ILCT as I prepared for the BCC exam, and still continue to receive mentorship and guidance as my coaching business evolves with my mission and purpose. I highly recommend ILCT to anyone entering the coaching field or interested in learning coaching techniques.” – Katie K., BCC, BCS

Ellen Neiley Ritter, PhD, BCC

Filed under:

Ellen’s journey with ILCT began back in 2005. After completing a Ph.D. in Psychology, she realized that she no longer wanted to focus on what’s wrong with individuals, but wanted a strength based approach to help individuals not only survive but thrive in their lives. Learning about ILCT’s renowned life coach training program was one of those lightbulb moments, and she enrolled in ILCT’s Foundations course immediately, later becoming credentialed as a Certified Coach, a Board Certified Coach, and was appointed to serve as a member of the Global Convention of Coaching’s committee on Research in Coaching.

In 2008, Pat Williams hired Ellen to be ILCT’s Admissions Coordinator and she has been working with ILCT students in various capacities ever since. “It’s a real honor and pleasure to work directly with each student, to be part of their journey to become coaches who go out and make this world a better place.”

Ellen splits her time between Clearwater, FL and Northeast Ohio with her husband John, her labradoodle Libby, and loves traveling to see her two grown sons and their wonderful wives, located on each coast, as well as spending time on Long Beach Island, NJ with her extended family.

Referrals and Case Consultation Online: What About Confidentiality?

Filed under:

Back in the day, we were all on listservs such as Yahoo Groups. Now Facebook and Linkedin Groups have largely taken the place of other online “bulletin board” formats. Various organizations and like-minded professionals often create groups to communicate efficiently with one another. Once a member, you can usually be notified by email when new member activity takes place, or you may be like me and keep your Facebook open most of the workday. Many coach groups focus on providing a place to network, share resources, find potential referrals, and even discuss cases. Yes. That is correct… discuss cases. Said differently, coaches talk about their clients in these groups.

Mind-Shifting Imagery: Image Guidance for Life Coaches

Filed under:

By: Dr. Elizabeth-Anne Stewart

Image Guidance has powerful implications for life coaching and is fully aligned with the International Coach Federation’s core competencies and Code of Ethics. Used briefly, as a forward-focusing tool rather than as a strategy for re-visiting the past, Image Guidance offers a doorway into self-knowledge (I know who I am) and self-awareness (I understand my dreams, desires, fantasies, motivations and purpose, as well as the limiting beliefs that are stopping me from living the life I want to lead).

Therapist as Life Coach: An Introduction for Counselors and Other Helping Professionals

Filed under:

By: Dr. Patrick Williams and Deborah C. Davis

This book has been a standard for therapists who wish to transition or expand their practices into life coaching. Pat Williams have finally revised their classic practice-building book for today's therapists and future coaches. The book begins by exploring the history of the coaching movement and then explains in detail the differences and similarities between coaching and therapy, discusses the coaching relationship, and considers some of the skills therapists will need to learn and unlearn in order to reclaim their joyfulness about their work. Professional transition tools such as developing and marketing your practice and honing your coaching skills are discussed at length in Part Three. The final section moves beyond basic life coaching to introduce coaching specialties such as corporate coaching, offers self-care strategies for life coaches, and peeks into the future of life coaching. There is new material throughout, including an overview of recent coaching developments, updated liability concerns, new business opportunities, and a new section on the research about coaching.

Getting Naked

Filed under:

By: Dr. Patrick Williams

If today you are no longer willing to settle for mediocrity in your work, relationships, and your life, this book is for you. Within these pages is the powerful secret to unlocking your fullest potential as a career person, a parent, a friend, a mate, a lover, a human being. How? Through getting naked. Getting Naked is about living life as the fullest, most authentic version of you. It's about cutting the crap--releasing the baggage that has held you hostage for so long and embracing all of you; the good parts, the bad parts, the public parts, and the shadow parts, so you can integrate them and become an even stronger force of positivity in the universe, through the secrets of honest self-disclosure.

Programs

We understand that your time is valuable so we’ve made it easier to quickly identify and select programs and courses. Simply start by choosing one of two Program Paths available: Credentialing or Specialties. You can also search for stand alone courses. Individual courses are generally transferable from one path to the other, so you also have the freedom to switch paths, or combine paths along the way.

While most of our classes are taught over the phone, in teleconference format, or through video conference calls, ILCT offers a number of electives which may be completed online, working at your own pace with feedback from your coach instructor.
