  1. an understanding of ethics as defined by a variety of codes applicable to coaches, including a focus on the ICF Code of Ethics
  2. an overview of the legal issues of which coaches should be aware
  3. information about risk management techniques

The format of the class will involve group discussion of case examples.

Costs for the course includes $20 dollars for The Little Book of Ethics for Coaches: Ethics, Risk Management and Professional Issues, 3rd Edition by Dr. Karen Weiner which will be available on your student library page, prior to the beginning of class.

Freqency: This course is offered two or three times a year, depending on demand.

The Ethics, Risk Management and Professional Issues Course taught by Karen Weiner was an excellent primer on the ethical codes for coaches. I believe that this course is of central importance for becoming a coach. Knowing the professional guidelines can provide a solid ethical structure, allowing the coach to be free to focus on the client and the coaching conversation. Karen appeared to me as a highly knowledgeable individual who understands the complexities of human interaction and ethical relations.
