Hope Speaks in Coaching

Hope underlies and is woven throughout the coaching process. Coaching augments and amplifies hope, which can lead to greater success towards goal achievement. This short course explores both the theory and practice so hope can be built into a single conversation, and throughout the coaching process.

Objectives

  • To explore the dynamics of Hope, and the significant role it plays for change to occur, referencing C.R. Snyder’s work on Hope Theory.
  • To explore the role of character strengths as a catalyst for hope in the coaching process.
  • This course will include teacher presentation, coaching demonstrations by teacher and students, class discussion, and field work.

Course Requirements

  • Participation in Class Discussion and exercises: Contribute actively to the class discussion – speak up at least once during each class and volunteer to be coach or client as needed.
  • Review reading materials, videos, take VIA Character Strengths survey at viacharacter.org.

20 hours of coach training
